    Its Not Rude to Poynt

    Thursday, October 27, 2011

There are numerous apps out there that provide phone info, mapping, local business and entertainment details, but my preferred app in this realm is Poynt. It’s not an agricultural app, but I use it all the time. Poynt is available for BlackBerry phones and the Playbook, iPhone and iPod Touch, Android devices and Windows 7 phones.
For starters, I love the carousel style menu at the opening screen when I select the Poynt icon on my BB Torch. The options available are: white pages, yellow pages, restaurants, events, Map it!, and movies.

Farmer Smartphone Use is Higher than Expected in New Study

    Wednesday, September 28, 2011

So much for the idea that farmers lag in adopting technology. Our editorial team stumbled across this very interesting study today. 1.My trusty cell phone is all I need.

Sure other companies made them, but Blackberry really pushed the envelope on technology and made itself ubiquitous. Company presidents and other officers were armed quickly and became wanting employees to be accessible 24-7. There was almost no … Read the rest »

Dell Latitude ATG is a Laptop Built for the Farm

Some would argue that the tablet has cut into the laptop market. While that may be true, that portion of the market the tablet now has is exactly what those users wanted to start with, only it was never available to them before. The introduction of the tablet just brought that to light. The tablet user in most cases doesn’t need everything the laptop offers while the laptop user has specific needs that can only be filled by the laptop.

Soybean Aphid App Helps Farmers Diagnose Infestation in the Field

The Aphid Advisor app is a decision-making tool to help determine whether a control action is warranted for Soybean Aphids (Aphis glycines) on soybeans in the province of Ontario, Canada. This app uses aphid and natural enemy numbers, as well as expected population growth rates, to indicate whether there are enough natural enemies to keep aphid populations below action thresholds or if an insecticide application may be needed.

Foursquare is Likeable, But I Have No Idea Why

Is there ever a TV show that you watch and you have no idea why you take the time to tune in. Have you watched a show and and you are not quite sure why you watch but you are drawn in to it for some strange unintentioned reason? Well I have an app on my Ipad and blackberry that I use everyday but I am truly clueless as to why.
